Does Your Small Business Need A Facelift?

How you look affects your self esteem and how your business looks affects your bottom line. But what if you need to improve your business image but have minimal staff or budget to support those changes?

Not to worry. There are some simple tips you can apply that cost nothing or next-to-nothing and that can get almost immediate results. So where do you start? First, you need a plan.

Plan Your Brand

A facelift, also known as an *identity* plan deserves detailed thought because it involves more than your logo and letterhead. Having a plan assures that everything you put before a potential customer carries a unified image so that the customer can identify the product or service with your business. This identity becomes the brand upon which you build future business, so putting optimal resources toward your brand development will provide the best return.

Revamping your brand may be as simple as updating a logo or as complex as creating a many-page website with double opt-in lists, links and affiliations. Because you will likely be living with your choices for a long time, you will want to consider selecting the image that is not only the most acceptable but the one you believe will enhance your success. It is always a good idea to solicit feedback from others when creating something as critical as your identity.

Five Ways to Find the Services You Need at a Fraction of the Cost

How do you find someone to help with your identity plan? Five ways come to mind:

  1. Offer a high school or college art student the chance to design what you need in exchange for including the finished work in his or her portfolio. A letter from you verifying your satisfaction with his or her work is a help, too.
  2. Post the job on a freelancer site and subcontract the work. Search with your favorite browser for freelance graphic designers, publish your proposal and determine from the bids you receive what works best. (These sites can be global marketplaces so determine if terms of agreement are acceptable before you post your proposal.)
  3. Barter services with a designer whose work you know and trust. For example, if your business is landscaping, offering to rid the designer of yard-weeds in the spring may be enough to offset what you need.
  4. Offer to introduce a designer to two other clients who would agree to use his or her services. The business referral may be seen as equity for your own work.
  5. Buy an already created set from a software or shareware company. Add your business information and voil?, you have got a new look.
Some Words of Warning

Although it may seem like a good or convenient idea to have a family member or friend do the design work for you, it usually turns out to be far more costly not only financially, but also with relationship conflicts. So, weigh the potential outcome before you ask.

Finally, make sure you have the electronic file formats and copyright permissions (or ownership) you need for the work you purchased. After all, you do not want to be seeing your image anywhere but on your business face.

Volvo Reveals S40, V50 Facelifts

Volvo Cars set forth a number of distinctive facelifts made to the new S40 sedan and the V50 wagon. The modifications are made to respond to the growing needs of drivers and car occupants alike. The Volvo S40 is given cues that resemble the S-range look shown on the S80 car. The V50, on the other hand, flaunts the new V-range without compromising the original compact and sporty features.

"When it comes to the exterior, we're aiming for increased differentiation between the two models. The interior refinements have focused on liberating smart storage space," said Volvo Cars Design Director Steve Mattin.

The facelift made to the new S40 could be obviously seen when it is viewed from the front. Volvo?s pool of engineers and designers have given the car new headlamps, color-coordinated soft nose creates a broader, lower stance through the new grille with a larger Volvo mark, and a lower air intake. The Volvo S40 is the modern replica of Volvo 740 parts to bolster the evolution aimed at pushing away its boxy image.

"The new, lower and more horizontal appearance radiates smooth power. This impression is reinforced when the car is seen from the side. At the rear, it is the shape of the new tail lamps and the new bumper that further boost the dynamic appearance," said Steve Harper, the designer of the new Volvo S40 and V50.

The new V50 features the new black egg-crate grille with its larger Volvo iron mark to stress a sportier aura. The new headlamps and the three sculpted lower air intakes are the features that give the new color-coordinated soft-nose V50 front an increased inkling of solidity. "Here, we've created visual vertical elements in order to further emphasize the new grille," said Harper.

The lower part of the tail lamp panel given to both the S40 and V50 is 30 millimeters higher than the previous version and the lamps themselves have an entirely new graphic layout. The brake lights are now of LED type and the position marker lamps emphasize the car's shoulders.

The new bumper features integrated reflectors in the lower corners and the lower, broader design language is supplemented with the more horizontal lines of the exhaust tailpipe. "The improved shape and position of the exhaust tailpipes is a good example of how a little extra visual touch can create a highly potent impression," noted Harper.

To refine the interior and to attain liberation movement, the vehicles are given more storage space. "The criticism of the current models' limited storage space served as high-octane fuel when the time came to sketch the new interior of the S40 and V50. We weren't entirely satisfied until we felt we had exploited every single available cubic centimeter in an efficient way," said Harper.

The team of designers and engineers concentrated its efforts on two areas: the door sides and the centre stack. The entire lower part of the front door inside panels was redesigned. The audio system loudspeakers were reshaped to free up space for a new, larger storage compartment with space for an A4 format book, an upright soft drinks can or a water bottle lying down.

Other remarkable features of the car include larger and classier centre console with additional decor versions such as the Nordic Light Oak real wood inlay, elegant sliding cover and flexible armrest, brake lights with EBL (Emergency Brake Lights) function, a new upholstery and green highlight color, and an even sharper driveline range. Also, diesel engines, which account for 55 percent of the Volvo S40 and the Volvo V50 sales in Europe and 25 percent in total, are available in three versions: the 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and the D5 180 hp.

"We've even utilized the small spaces that are usually simply covered over when they're not housing controls for options or accessories. Now instead, the space has been converted into a handy compartment, for instance for a mobile phone. After all, the phone is not something we should be using while driving, anyway," explained Steve Harper.

Ford Mondeo LX TDCi 130 PS Hatchback 2003 Pre-Facelift Model - Used Car Review

Background

Replacing the Sierra in 1993 with a $6bn new car programme (one of the most expensive ever), the Ford Mondeo has become one of the most popular mid-size vehicles in the UK market. It?s no coincidence that its reliability has made the Ford Mondeo the favoured car for fleet owners of any size.

The current MkIII (mark 3) model Ford Mondeo was introduced in 2000 after the MkII (mark 2) mondeo was discontinued 3 years after its inception in 1997. The third generation Ford Monde was launched in 2000, and addressed the 2 main criticisms of its predecessor: the modest legroom and sluggish diesel engine. The legroom is noticeably bigger and the pull of the straight-four-cylinder, turbo-intercooled, 16-valve direct-injection TDCi engine is a marked improvement. The chain-driven camshafts also rectified a common problem in the earlier models.

The security of the Ford Mondo MkIII is also an improvement on its predecessors, including the Intelligent Protection System (IPS), anti-lock brakes and electronic brake distribution. No wonder it frequently featured as the most popular car in its class at the turn of the new decade and ranked as high as 8th top selling car in the UK.

Common faults
Injectors.
The review

We purchased the Mondeo LX 130 TDCi as a 3? year old diesel vehicle with 85,000 miles on the clock and full Ford service history.
To look at the MkIII (mark 3) Ford Mondeo is still a modern looking car, and with 85,000 miles on the clock, this Mondeo neither looks nor feels tired. The light metallic blue paint gives it a bright, happy look, and although the wheel trims don?t have the same effect of the alloy wheels (alloys) of the zetec or ghia models, this LX is still a great looking car. With the dash and centre console following the lead set by the 1996 Volkswagen (VW) Passat, and a nice dark charcoal upholstery, I was looking forward to getting behind the wheel for the roadtest.

On the road I wasn?t disappointed, and the extra 15 PS made the 130 PS TDCi faster than a lot of its petrol rivals I came across that tried to add an extra minute or two onto my journey time. The handling was fine, brakes sharp, and the increased torque was just enough to keep the ride ?pokey? without the slip-and-slide of a lighter competitor. And it even has lower emissions than its 115 zetec counterpart...

In summary, a good pedigree, good handling, solid build quality, generous equipment, roomy interiors and low cost servicing. And when you can get 200 to 300,000 miles from a well serviced TDCi Ford Mondeo LX 130 for only ?5495 on the road, you won?t be disappointed with your investment.

Please feel free to submit your comments and experience of your Ford Mondeo LX 130 PS 2003(03) 2.0 TDCi hatchback to the webmaster at the used car world website.

Volvo Gives S40 - V50 a Facelift

In 1995, Volvo Cars released an entry level luxury sedan with a wagon version. These vehicles are aimed at the younger generation of car buyers. The Volvo S40 sedan and its wagon version, the V50 have undergone their first redesign for the 2004 model year.

The latest generation of the Volvo S40/V50 is named by Forbes as one of the best luxury car for young professionals. And for the 2008 model year, Volvo announced that they will be introducing the third generation of the S40/V50 models. The Swedish car manufacturer announced that the new version of the S40 and the V50 are even more tailored to suit the preferences of younger buyers.

The 2008 Volvo S40/V50 are designed to complement the C30 which was unveiled earlier this year. As Volvo aims to attract the attention of younger car buyers, they designed the S40 to resemble its bigger sibling, the S80. On the other hand, the wagon version of the S40 resembles the looks of the bigger V70. On the outside, the most notable redesigned piece is the nose of the sedan and the wagon.

The 2008 model year version sports a new grille and new headlight cluster. The Volvo logotype is also larger on the third generation S40 and V50. The ancient symbol for iron accentuates the redesigned nose which gives the Volvo S40 and the Volvo V50 a lowered look. That makes the vehicles look lower than they really are.

From the back, the 2008 S40/V50 looks similar to the second generation S40/V50 with several changes. A slimmer light cluster is one of the changes made in the rear of the car along with a new bumper design.

Inside the 2008 S40/V50, one of Volvo?s most widely recognized interior features was revised. The floating console which is employed by high-end Volvo vehicles was upgraded and looks even cooler. Aside from the revisions made to the floating console, Volvo also gave the 2008 S40/V50 new door panel inserts. Consumers will also be given a wide choice of upholstery designs.

Aside from the aforementioned revisions, the 2008 Volvo S40/V50 will also be equipped with swiveling bi-xenon headlights as an option. This feature comes in handy when making turns during nighttime driving. An Emergency Brake Light feature is also included. With this feature, the EBL flashes when the driver activates the brake pedal. As far as the engine lineup is concerned, Volvo has yet to announce whether the choice of engine will remain as. But word has it that Volvo will be offering a new T5 engine with increased power output.

One thing is for sure though - the abundance of safety features will always be in Volvo?s vehicles. Since these are Volvo models, it can be expected that these will be equipped with the latest safety features to complement a high performance luxury vehicle with reliable parts such as Volvo axles, steering components, and the like.

2009 VW Passat to Undergo Face Lift

Launched two years ago at the 2005 Geneva Show, the 2009 VW Passat is believed to undergo face lifting.

According to the German magazine Autozeitung, VW will proceed to a facelift in 2009. And it will be seen most probably at the 2009 Geneva Show, with aesthetic changes including a redesigned front end inspired from the upcoming Tiguan. The German magazine reports that VW will also substitute the present 1.6FSI and 2.0FSI engines with the Groups new 122Hp 1.4TSI and 160Hp 1.8TFSI motors, which will also include 1.6, 2.0 and 3.2 V6 engines.

Some analysts say this speculation of the German magazine arises because of Volkswagens aim to continually increase the company?s sales and also to attract the US market. The engine substitution, however, is expected to occur quite earlier, maybe even in this year?s Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Volkswagen will add a low-roofed wagon model in 2009 to accompany next year's sleek, Passat-based, four-door "coupe". The wagon has the packaging and the design theme of the Dodge Magnum, which is said to be a reflection of former VW product expert Wolfgang Bernhard's time at the Chrysler Group.

As compared to the standard Passat wagon, the premium model has a lower roofline, a wider stance, and a less upright tailgate. Added to this, the seating height is lowered and the buckets will give heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Along with this are inflatable g-force-compensating cushions. Extending all the way through the cabin is the center console. However, despite a low roofline, the wagon's cargo bay accommodates 21 cubic feet of stuff.

A 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbo four and a high-performance version of the 3.6-liter VR6, which will develop nearly 300 hp are included in the engine options. These are paired either with a six-speed manual or an improved, seven-speed twin-clutch DSG.

Analysts say prices have not yet been determined, but one insider claims that the Magnum-esque VW will cost only about $2000. That is more than a comparable Passat wagon.

Looking at the older version of Passat, the 2007 Volkswagen Passat sedan is offered as a four-door sedan or five-door wagon. It is available with a 200-hp, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a 280-hp, 3.6-liter V6. Four-cylinder sedans can be ordered with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Wagons and V6s, however, come with the automatic only.

With innovated VW Passat parts, all Passat models are expected to raise VW sales during their respective season of lunch in the market.

Giving a Digital Facelift to Your Old Paper Prints?

Although it seems that digital cameras have been around forever ? they are relatively a new product. For years we used film cameras and as a result most of us accumulated many paper prints made from such film. We can keep those paper prints albums as is or find ways to upgrade them into the new digital era.

Such inventories of paper prints include photos, negatives and slides. Most people keep those legacy prints in photo albums and keep using them in the old fashion way while using computers to view photos, share and send photos to family and friends only for the newly photos taken with digital cameras.

There are simple ways to upgrade your paper based inventory to the new digital age. Usually photos are kept in the house in one of the following formats:

Paper prints: the most common format, usually at sizes like 4X6 and 5X7. Over time paper prints tend to lose their quality. Depending on how well they are kept the paper might turn yellow and bend and the colors might fade.

Negatives: also known simply as film. This is the processed film usually 35mm from which the prints where made. Although negatives can get damaged over time they are more likely to maintain their high quality. Negatives are hardly used unless new paper prints are needed.

Slides: very similar to negatives used for projecting photos on a large screen.

There are many ways to convert old photo papers to digital formats. The different methods vary in cost and quality. Professional photographers spend a lot of time and money on this process while most amateurs and consumers use very simple methods that are both cheap and easy. Most home users and amateurs only need to scan their photo prints into digital format ignoring the negatives and slides. Professionals use high end equipment to scan the high resolution negatives into digital formats.

Photo paper prints are easy to scan. You can choose to purchase a simple scanner usually for a cost of less than $100 and scan them yourself at home. You can also choose to mail them (or hand them) to a professional scanning service that will scan them for you and mail you back the originals and a DVD with the digital scans (such services include www.digmypics.com, www.digitalpickle.com, www.britepix.com and many more).

If you have a small number of photos scanning at home is easier. If you have a large number of photos using a service is easier but you can end up spending more money. In addition mailing your one and only hardcopy of your photos is a risk since they might get lost.

If you prefer scanning your paper photos yourself at home you should be aware of the following:

Resolution: the resolution of a scan is measured by the number of dots per inch that the scanner can produce. Most scanners can scan at 1200 DPI or more. Usually the scanner can be set to scan at different resolutions. The higher the resolution the slower the scan and the bigger the photo file size will be. For most paper prints scanning at 300 to 600 DPI is enough but you can experiment scanning at higher resolutions if you feel it provides better results.

Speed: If you have a small number of photos speed is not an issue. If you have hundreds or more of photos scanning speed becomes important. To get fast scans you would have to scan at the lowest resolution possible that results in good enough scans ? for most paper prints 300 to 600 DPI is enough.. Also if you?re going to buy a scanner check the scanning speed (usually measured in the number of scans per minute make sure that you check the speed at the DPI you?re going to use).

Photo feeding: if you only have a small number of photos this is not an issue. If you have many photos make sure that the scanner you buy allows fast and easy loading of photos. Some higher-end scanners will let you load a stack of photos and will automatically feed and scan them for you. These scanners are the right choice if you are planning on scanning hundreds or more photos.

Once converted to digital format there are many things that you can do with the photos. In addition to viewing them on your computer screen and sharing them with family and friends you can also use sophisticated photo processing software to enhance them. For example you can use photo processing software to eliminate red-eye in the photos. You can improve contrast, brightness, or create some artistic effects ? turn color photos to black and white and more.

Upvc Windows: Give Your Home A Face Lift

When people visit your home UPVC windows can make a good first impression. There are several features available with these windows and you can choose from sash windows or casement windows. PVC is a good material choice. Here are some of the reasons why.

In North America, they call it vinyl, but on this side of the pond it's known as PVC. This is a durable material which is very strong and many people now prefer it for modern doors and windows. Indeed most people include UPVC windows in a modernisation package which includes doors and a conservatory as well.

There are several reasons to install windows of PVC when considering home improvement projects. The fact that they are weathertight is a major factor when remodelling. Double glazed UPVC windows consist of a membrane between two sheets of glass (hence the alternative term 'double glass windows'). This protects against heat loss and means that your heating bills will be lower once your new windows have been installed.

Windows of this material also improve the security of your home. They are more difficult to break into than traditional windows if people are trying to pick the lock. The locking mechanism is tight for additional security and if you want to experience a good flow of air, you can also lock modern vinyl windows in an ajar position for the best of both worlds.

When selecting new windows for your house, there are many ways in which PVC is superior to wood. For a start, there is the additional insulation that it provides but there is another important advantage as well. You won't have to spend as much time on maintenance with PVC. With wood, sanding and painting is standard every couple of years. With PVC the same renewal can be achieved with soap and water, leaving the material looking good for years.

One of the choices you will face when deciding on new windows for your home is the type of window you should select. These are likely to be either sash or casement. Sash windows are the windows that slide up and down and may have a locking mechanism at the top of the sash. Some sash windows are single, sliding one way only, while others are double, with both top and bottom panes able to move.

Casement windows are popular when it comes to UPVC windows. These are the windows that are hinged on the side and open inwards or outwards. Sometimes these windows can swing in several directions, to allow a fire exit or to increase the flow of air. Many companies that specialise in windows offer casement windows.

UPVC windows are a great way to save energy in the home, but let's not forget about decoration. There are additions to your windows that will enhance their attractiveness and the attractiveness of your home as well. Consider having leaded casement windows for timeless elegance, or enhancing your windows with stained glass panels. Let more light into a room by putting clear or frosted glass on the sides of your casement windows. There are several options which will make your home more beautiful.

Adrian Jones has been involved in the home improvement UK market for many years. This article outlines the options available when installing replacement windows for your home.

Surgical And Non Surgical Facelift

The mentality has changed and people now think that a facelift is not just for the rich and famous. Today facelifts are one of the most well-accepted and most frequently performed cosmetic procedures in the world and with this surgical operation one lifts up the facial tissues and skin and/or the underlying muscle, in order to have a tighter and smoother face. A facelift can really reduce saggy skin and wrinkles and produce a more alert and youthful appearance. Several factors contribute to the final result of the facelift and they are the reason every facelift is different.

If your skin is still elastic and tight, but you are concerned with sagging or excess fat in you face or under the chin, facial liposuction can be very good option. The skin is then lifted outward and the underlying tissues and muscles are tightened and fixed. Sagging skin is simply the effect of gravity over time and seems to affect the face more noticeably as it cannot be concealed by makeup. With an incision behind the hairline running over the top of the head, the skin is gently pulled upwards, the eyebrows along with it, and set into a new position. And at the same time, excess fat and skin can be removed.

When it comes to cosmetic surgery we realize that it is a big decision and it can have a big impact on a person?s life. There are a number of preparations to be made and don?t forget to have a picture taken before the operation so that the results of surgery can be compared with your new appearance. The facial rejuvenation surgery has a goal and that is to restore both men and women with a more youthful contour to your face and neck.

A facelift operation starts with a local anesthesia, or a general anesthesia. Incision often starts from the ear to behind the ear and ends near the hairline behind the ear. After the incision, undermining is done and that is separating the facial skin from the underlying tissue below the neck, chin and cheeks using scalpel and scissors. Then the facial suspension system are tightened with stitches and the skin is pulled backwards and upwards to the required extent. The skin is then tightened with stitches and the underlying excess tissue may or may not be removed. Excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed with sutures.

As opposed to conventional facelifts, which can result into undesirable scars and a plastic look, the weekend facelift leads to a natural, rejuvenated appearance without any visible scars or the look of major surgery. This means the procedure can be kept totally private if desired and the weekend facelift is usually performed on an outpatient basis, with the surgery lasting one hour or less.

Also, one of the best features of this procedure is that it will allow you to return to work the same day you receive treatment. The main goal of a facelift procedure is to give you a fresher and younger look, preserving her/his natural characteristics, unless the patient has some reasons to change the natural look too.

Creating The Elusive ?lunchtime Facelift?

The "lunchtime facelift" has been the holy grail in plastic surgery for quite a while. The idea of providing facial rejuvenation with no downtime appeals to both plastic surgeons and patients. Get your treatment, look improved and freshened, and immediately go back to work, out on the town or, for some of our entertainment patients here in Beverly Hills, head over to the red carpet at an awards show. Who wouldn't want to get their facial rejuvenation and then have no recovery?

Essentially all of the so called "no downtime facelifts" or "lunchtime facelifts" simply did not live up to their billing. As a plastic surgeon, I know that surgery involves recovery. It is just the way the body responds to a surgical procedure. Traditionally, if the body did not react to the procedure, nothing much was really done and few changes were visible when all was said and done.

But now we have many nonsurgical techniques that can create instant facial freshening -- removing or smoothing wrinkles, plumping lips -- with no recovery. Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra and other new products provide facial rejuvenation and do not create scars or undue swelling. They can help achieve that elusive goal of improvements without downtime. This is perhaps the biggest revolution in plastic surgery in thirty years.

These products work very differently. When we do Beverly Hills Botox we are using the medicine to paralyze some of the tiny muscles in the face. The twitching of these muscles creates a skin wrinkle on the skin that lies above it. If the muscles lay quietly, they do not tense and cause a wrinkle in the skin above. Botox is extremely safe, its results are predictable, and it can create fantastic improvements in facial appearance. My sister recently had it for the first time, and it dramatically improved and freshened the look of her face ? just like I have seen it do for countless other of my patients.

The we use Beverly Hills skin fillers skin fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm we work to provide bulk under the skin to fill in wrinkles from below. They are very effective for both small lines and larger ones, such as the nasolabial folds which run from the sides of the nose toward the outside edges of the side of the mouth and the so-called marionette lines that go along the side of the chin.

Each person's face is different, so each person will do best with a different noninvasive treatment and nonsurgical skin rejuvenation. But the various procedures do provide fast changes with little or no recovery. Where in the past the ?weekend facelift? was illusory, it is now possible to create dramatic changes without downtime.

A Face Lift Cream Will Work It's Magic For You

As a woman ages she may begin to seriously consider having a surgical procedure to help stop nature?s effects. For some women this means having a face lift which involves a good deal of pain and recovery time. One alternative that is becoming increasingly popular is a face lift cream. Although it certainly can?t offer the same dramatic results as a surgical lift, it can refresh a woman?s look.

There are many different skin care concerns that affect women at the various stages of their lives. For young women they are often battling oily skin and the related struggles with acne. As a woman enters her thirties she begins to worry about small wrinkles around her mouth and eyes. When retirement approaches, it?s time to start thinking about how the skin is beginning to lose its elasticity. This is when a face lift cream can work its magic.

Going to the cosmetics counter to buy a jar of this beauty remedy can be a bit confusing. More and more companies are introducing their own version of the face lift cream. In an effort to get your business almost all will claim that they offer the best face lift cream. It can be incredibly hard for the average woman to decide which product to purchase.

A good approach is to inquire about free samples. This may seem a tad bit embarrassing since it could be likened to asking for hand-outs. It?s not. Consider that many of the companies that do offer a face lift cream understand the hesitation women feel when it comes to investing their money in a new beauty product. They have developed small samples of their face lift cream that a woman can take home and use for a few days to see how her skin reacts to it.

It?s a wise idea to only use one of these samples at a time. You want to feel the full effects of the face lift cream and also have a chance to see how your skin will react to it. Some women who have extremely sensitive skin will tend to break out when they try a new product. Although a face lift cream is usually composed of ingredients designed for all skin types, this can still occur.

In addition to watching for any skin irritations, you?ll be very curious about how well your face looks. The measure of success with any face lift cream is how much tighter your skin appears. After using a sample for a few days you can gauge the effectiveness of the face lift cream and decide if buying an entire bottle is worth the cost.

The Short-Scar Face Lift

When going under the knife for anti-aging facial surgery, there are two separate issues to consider ? skin quality and excess skin quantity.

While the quality of the skin can be assisted to some extent (reports vary as to how much) with non-invasive treatments such as skin products, laser and botox, excesses of loose skin coupled with gravitational aging conditions such as sagging jowls do require surgery.

Instead of going for ?the works? as in a full face lift, many patients today are opting for short scar options (known as ?ponytail friendly? as the scarring is not obvious even when the patient wears their hair pulled back afterwards).

A well-known New York plastic surgeon says in regard to the mini-face lift procedure, "Aside from the shorter scar, there's no wind-tunnel look because we work on the deeper layers and reposition the fat and muscles, so the result is more natural."

Another less-invasive option is the ?mid-face lift?. However it is not recommended because it is often done through lower-eyelid incisions and can cause a noticeable, unwanted change in eye shape.

So what is the short-scar face lift?

The surgeon makes incisions at the hairline and around the ears and vertically lifts the fat, muscles and skin. The result is elevation of the skin and support of both skin and underlying tissue and muscles, especially in the mid face and jowls areas.

The procedure is usually done under local anaesthetic and is not longer than 90 minutes. You can expect some discomfort for the first day, which can be alleviated with painkillers.

Apart from a little bruising and swelling, the procedure has many advantages over the full face lift.

If you are considering facial cosmetic enhancement discuss this method with your surgeon as a possible solution to your needs. Also do thorough research beforehand.

Important Facts About Face Lifts

One of the most discouraging aspects of a face lift is the fact that you will not walk out of the office looking beautiful. In many cases, a lot of people will not see the difference. The purpose of a face lift is not to return you to the beauty you enjoyed when you were twenty, or to make you beautiful, but to correct imperfections and reduce the signs of aging.

Plastic surgeons take a lot of time trying to explain to people that they will still look the same when they walk out of the office, but people listen and do not hear. This is in part to advertising.

Every single face lift clinic has the image of a young girl, a perfect eye, or a flawless completion in their ad. In fact, it can be shocking to look at the ads. I?ve seen ads with women?s bellies that were flawless. However, on a closer look I noticed that the woman?s belly was too fat ? she had no developed womb. The ?image? that the doctor was portraying to his potential patients was from a pre-pubescent female.

This is often done when advertising face lifts. The skin of a very young person, under sixteen has an iridescent glow, a full, translucent quality, and an innocence that is emotionally appealing. There is a subliminal message there, ?you can look like this again.?

Of course, we all want to look younger, but to expect a plastic surgeon to return your face to the beauty displayed in high school pictures is not only impossible, it is ridiculous.

Another thing that many patient do not hear is that plastic surgeons can only do so much. There is only a certain amount of skin that can be nipped and tucked before the face starts to look weird.

A 49 year old woman can expect to look 40, or even 30, if she has good healthy skin. It is impossible to make her look 20.

There are other considerations when having a face lift that includes the patients weight. A 200 pound woman will look foolish if the doctor removes the fat from her face, but leaves it around the rest of their body.

This means that the doctor may remove the lines, sags, and wrinkles, but leave the fat. But, this is not the only concern. A person with a lot of weight who wants extensive face lift surgery may see their face shape change, oval to round, round to oval. Only a surgeon can accurately predict what will happen.

This doesn?t mean that there isn?t good news. It is possible to exchange a tired looking, saggy face for a tighter, brighter face. It is possible to bring out one beautiful feature, eyes, nose, or mouth, and enhance its beauty in a way that adds a glow to the entire face.

And, it is possible, in many cases, for plastic surgeons to correct flaws that are not associated with beauty.

It is also important to understand that the face will continue to age. Jowls can reappear in as little as two years. Lines will reappear. A face lift is not a long term cure for aging.

But, understanding these things before you enter the surgeons office can make it easier for patients to pick the procedure that will make them feel beautiful and empower them so they can get on with living.

About Your Face lift

Face lift is actually known as rhytidectomy. As people age, the effect of gravity, exposure to the sun and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth; the jaw line grows slack. Folds and fat deposits appear around the neck. A face lift can't stop this aging process. What the face lift operation can do is improve the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of your face and neck.
Best candidate for a face lift:
1. We can say the best candidate is the man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag.
2. If the skin still has some elasticity left.
3. If the bone structure is strong and well-defined.
4. People at the age of seventies and eighties can also get the face lift done.
5. If the person has less self-confidence and if the person wants to look fresher and younger then they are definitely the best candidates.
6. It restores the health and vitality of the youth.
Risk of getting a face lift done:
As we all know every surgery has risks involved. It can best know when discussed with your surgeon. It depends mostly on the person's anatomy and their physical reactions, and their healing abilities.
1. Blood collects under the skin must be removed by the surgeon.
2. Injury to the nerves that control facial muscles.
3. Infection and reactions to the anesthesia.
4. Smokers are affected by poor healing.
5. Risks are reduced by following your surgeon's advice.
Planning for your face lift surgery:
You should always discuss your goals with your surgeons. They will always advise you and explain your pro's and cons better.
1. Your surgeon will check for medical conditions that could cause problems during or after the surgery, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, blood clotting problems, or the tendency to form excessive scars.
2. Your surgeon will instruct you on taking or avoiding certain medication. It is an important to stop smoking two weeks before and after surgery.
Types of anesthesia done during Face Lift :
1. Local anesthesia: it may make you drowsy. You'll be awake but your face will not be in pain.
2. General anesthesia: if this anesthesia is given then you will sleep through out the day.
About the face lift surgery:
1. The face lift surgery takes several hours to be done with.
2. Incisions usually begin above the hair line at the temples, extend in a natural line in front of the ear, then it continues behind the earlobe to lower scalp.
3. The surgeon separates the skin from the fat and muscle below.
4. Fat may be trimmed or suctioned from around the neck and chin to improve the contour.
5. The surgeon then tightens the underlying muscle and the membrane, pulls the skin back, and removes the excess.
6. Stitches secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions.
7. Metal clips may be used to the scalp.
8. After surgery a thin drain tube is placed under the skin behind your ear to drain any blood that might collect there.
After your surgery:
1. If there is discomfort after the surgery, pain medication is given.
2. If there is severe chronic pain or sudden swelling of your face, its best to alert the doctor.
3. Their maybe drainable tubes and they will be removed one or two days after surgery.
4. Bandages are usually removed after five days.
5. Your face may look pale bruised and puffy, but in a few weeks you will be looking normal.
6. Most of your stitches will be removed after about ten days. Your scalp may take longer to heal, and stitches or metal clips in your hairline could be left in a few days longer.
Care after the surgery:
1. You can move about in two days but take it easy for the first week after the face lift surgery.
2. Be very gentle with your face and hair, sine your skin will be both tender and numb.
3. It may be very numb at first.
4. Avoid strenuous activity, including sex and heavy housework, for at least two weeks, stretching ise fine.
5. Get plenty of rest and allow your body to spend its energy on healing.

Your new look:
It's very common to still have swelling for weeks after surgery but it will subside with time. You will be happy with your new and improved look at about three to six months once the swelling is gone.

Non-surgical facelifts

Non Surgical facelift practically means performing a facelift without surgical procedure. Nowadays there have been many new developments in this field of non-surgical facelifts, as more and more people are pursuing that illusive reality of having a perfect body or image without using surgical methods or being beautiful naturally. There are several methods of performing non-surgical facelifts through lasers, creams and even radio frequencies. These methods are becoming very efficient in their effects of tightening the skins around the face hence improving ones' appearance. All these methods of non-surgical face-lifting do not have "pain" written on the cover of its book neither does "recuperation period" get involve and it can be carried on with other treatments. This is why the numbers for people taking non-surgical facelift is growing. The current wave that's hitting the town's beauty parlors and beauty salons is Thermage facelift. This non-surgical facelift is relatively inexpensive if compared to performing surgical face-lifting. The ideology behind Thermage face-lifting is by using "derma abrasion" and "chemical peel", which practically means wearing away your skin. This is a very simple procedure painless and not time consuming, this face lift method only takes over or within an hour to complete by using some local anesthesia. After finishing up, you can continue with your daily routine without hassle or worries of bandages across your face. How Thermage Facelift works is basically by using radiofrequency to force our skin or face to tighten up, this method suits everybody other than those that needs a pacemaker. The result will settle in after a few days to five months of treatment. Severe battered face or scars are not guaranteed to fade using this method; surgical facelift is recommended for those that suffer severe cases. If pain is no obstacle for you but surgery is another issue, why not try acupuncture a secret ancient art of china that a lot of modern celebrities are using to avoid the nuisance of the paparazzi roaming around their life. Just a few pins sticking on your arms, legs and face you can a younger and firmer look, the only catch to this method of face-lifting is regular visits to the acupuncturist is needed to sustain youth. Other than all these high-tech and fancy treatments for non-surgical facelifts, there is an even easier way which is face mask and TCA peels. This type of non-surgical facelifts suits all skin types and gives you flawless, well-toned and firm feel on your face. TCA skin peels are one of the most popular and proven methods of facelifts as its ability and effectiveness to cure a wide range of skin disorders and problems. DMAE: Facelift in a jar, or fantastic fraud?

As a practicing Aesthetician one of the biggest skin product questions I get is - what is DMAE and how does it work?

Over the past several years, the interest in DMAE has skyrocketed - in part due to the amazing results many women have claimed to receive after beginning to use it.

DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) has been referred to as a "facelift in a jar", however, contrary to what many people will tell you, it remains a mystery as to how DMAE topical actually works to firm the skin. What is being studied is the possibility that DMAE protects the skin's cell membrane and through extending the cell's life, contributes to plumping of the skin.

And Plump skin usually means a fuller, healthier looking face - hence the reputation as a quick, easy and inexpensive home facelift solution.

Many websites and companies which sell DMAE cream claim that it does improve the skin's firmness and tone while increasing smoothness and brightness. And there are many women who have used DMAE claiming this to be true.

For many consumers, DMAE has proven to be the elusive "fountain of youth" amongst the many creams, lotions and promises that preceded it on the marketplace.

The best thing about DMAE is that whereas most creams can make the appearance of lines and wrinkles less noticeable - DMAE has actually been proven to have a positive effect on sagging of the facial skin. The results I have observed are never quite that of a face lift - but it is possible that DMAE can reduce further sagging - really providing users with a lift - both literally and figuratively..:-)

Like anything else in the beauty and skin industry, you have to be careful when buying new products to ensure you are getting good and authentic ingredients from a reputable company. We have all heard the stories of fly by night operations arriving on the scene to "service" the latest fad, only to disappear weeks, if not months later leaving lots of disappointed customers in their wake.

The key is to ALWAYS be an informed consumer - make product choices based on good research, recommendations and a keen understanding of your needs and goals when it comes to your skin and appearance concerns.

As a side note - for those clients who have problems applying a topical cream or lotion, DMAE, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C Ester also come in pill form and have some amazing other stated benefits as well.

Among them are:

DMAE: Increases your energy, and Memory/Learning Cognitive skills. Alpha Lipoic Acid: Protects your liver and brain function, reduces risk of cataracts.

Vitamin C Ester: Promotes a healthy immune system and stronger bones.

Do we know these to be true?

Only time will tell, but if proven through additional research, these ingredients may have many exciting anti-aging properties for your entire body, further reinforcing my belief that they should be an integral part of your present skin and beauty regimen.

Michele Bucci is practicing aesthetician and contributing editor to http://www.beginwiththeskin.com. She writes extensively about skin care issues facing her clients and provides a free resource for everyone interested in having beautiful skin. A Simple Guide To Understanding Exactly What's Involved In A Face Lift

One of the most common claims about celebrities as they age is that they've had a face-lift to try and maintain their youthful good looks. The reality is that as we get older, it shows on our face. Over the years our face gets weathered, and is exposed to gravity, the sun, pollution, stress and a whole lot more. That's why plastic surgeons are performing so many face-lifts. It's important to understand exactly what's involved in a face lift, if you're thinking of getting one, so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not a face lift is right for you.

Basically, the surgeon's job is to make you look younger. They use a number of different techniques to achieve this, including trimming away any excess fat that's accumulated around the face, and also tightening the facial muscles. Once this is done, the skin is draped back into place. Often, more than one procedure is conducted at the same time, with rhinoplasty (nose job) and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) being the most popular.

Generally, face lifts work best on someone who is already in reasonably good shape. This is because their facial skin is likely to have more elasticity, which helps to get good results from the procedure. Most face lift patients are between the ages of forty and sixty, but in reality a face lift can be performed regardless of age, and in fact people in their eighties have undergone this type of surgery.

A face-lift is a type of surgery, and like all surgery, there are potential risks. It's possible that hematoma may occur. This is when the blood pools underneath the surface of the skin. It may be necessary to have further surgery to relieve the problem. It's also possible for the facial muscles to become damaged during the surgery. The recovery process can be slow if the surgery doesn't heal well, and it's also possible for infection to occur.

If you're still thinking about having a face-lift, the first step is always to meet with the plastic surgeon and have a full discussion about the pros and cons of the surgery. You should tell the surgeon what you're hoping to achieve from the procedure, so that he or she can help you gain a realistic idea of the likely outcomes. The surgeon will also look at your face shape and evaluate whether or not you?re a good candidate for this type of surgery.

You need to understand, too, that there will be some permanent scarring as a result of your face-lift. The surgeon needs to make incisions in order to manipulate your facial muscles and remove excess fat, and these incisions will be across the length of the face. Most are near the hairline, which means they can be hidden by careful styling of your hair. It will take time, but eventually most of the scares will be hardly noticeable, and natural creases in the face may well hide them. Your face will also be swollen and bruise for a time after surgery, so the results won't be immediately obvious.

Despite the risks and the discomfort of the healing process, most people who undergo a face lift feel that it helps to turn back the clock for a number of years, and many people have another face lift years later in order to duplicate the effect and remain youthful.

Natural Face Lift - Restylane For Nautural Youthful Skin Instantly

Restylane is a natural facelift treatment that has been used by millions of women worldwide to get a more youthful appearance.

Restylane is a great alternative to Botox or plastic surgery is natural and safe. Let's look at why Restylane is becoming more popular than ever.

The Treatment

Restylane is a gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA)

This water acting substance is present in everyone's skin already and the treatment simply boosts the moisturizing affect.

So, it's natural and safe and this is hugely appealing to most women.

When injected into the skin it is known as SubQ and moisturises the skin from the inside

It is used to soften lines and wrinkles and is injected into any areas that need improvement.

It can be used on the skin but is also frequently injected into the lip areas as well to plump them up, in this form is known as Restylane Lipp.

Finally it can be used on the cheekbones, where it is called SUBQ.

It is a very flexible treatment and adds volume to the face to soften lines, wrinkles or stress an area i.e plumping up the lips.

How long does it last?

This all depends on each individual.

How much is injected, how much that area of the face moves and the person's genetic makeup.

For example, a cheek treatment will tend to last a year or more, mouth lines around six months and the lips may be just a few months.

In addition to the above we are all unique and we all break down hyaluronic acid at different rates so every case is different.

Why use it?

Unlike Botox and other treatments, it is totally natural with no side effects.

It simply boosts the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin.

Because its natural you look natural (this cannot be said for botox or many facelifts) you can roll back the years, look beautiful and not worry that you will suffer in anyway from side effects.

Just like treatments like Mestotherapy the attraction of Restylane is it allows you to look younger in a totally natural way.

Ok it doesn't last for ever but regular treatments will keep you looking young and with sessions at around $700.00 its affordable and a great way to look better. MORE FREE INFO

Non Surgical Facelifts - Roll Back the Years with Mesotherapy

Today more women than ever are looking at alternatives to plastic and cosmetic surgery and turning to non surgical facelifts and Mesotherapy is becoming the first choice of more and more women worldwide

Mesotherapy offers a great non surgical facelift that will make you look younger and more beautiful so let?s take a closer look at it.

Mesotherapy What It Does

It injects into the mesoderm area of the skin.

The mesoderm is below the epidermis and is the area where skin cells are made.

The injection contains a mixture of vitamins and amino acids and the natural moisturizer hyaluronic acid.

It is used on the face but many women also opt to have mesotherapy done on the thighs, legs and stomach areas as well.

Here it can be used to get rid of stubborn fat deposits as it improves circulation and helps mobilize and disperse fat deposits.

What are the results?

The results from a few sessions can be dramatic.

It brightens the appearance of skin and makes it look more youthful and radiant.

Mesotherapy is proven in scientific studies to show it stimulates the fibroblast cells which produce collagen and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

Meso originates from France and has been popular for many years and is a branch of medicine and is used to treat a number of illnesses including, depression and even sports injuries.

In recent years its cosmetic applications have been explored further with the rise of women wanting natural facelifts rather than plastic surgery.

Where do I get Mesotherapy?

There are a number of places worldwide (not just in France) where you can get it. As with any non surgical phase procedure check the training of the beauty therapists and ask for case studies and make sure they have the expertise and experience to give you the treatment.

Results can be very good but remember you will need a few sessions to see the full results and your therapist can advice you on how many you need.

Mesotherapy is a great natural facelift and joins several others such as Restylane, Isolgen and Intense pulsed Light (covered in our other articles in this series as a cheap and effective alternative to the surgeons knife.
