Plastic Surgery - Do Not Believe the Hype

When is a beautiful model in a publication not really a beautiful model? When someone has played funny with the image!

You read magazines. I read magazines. We all read magazines. We all think the same thing: My God, there are some beautiful people in the world. Or are there?

Of course, there are incredibly beautiful people in the world. The uber couple of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are just one example. Many of the photographs you see in magazines, however, are not exactly accurate. This is also true for the Internet.

The massive improvements in software over the last 10 years have led to some interesting developments. In this case, we are talking about digital editing software. Editing software is all about touching up photographs. Prior to the digital revolution, this meant images would get small changes to correct minor imperfections. In the digital age, it is fairly shocking models are actually employed any longer.

Using basic desktop programs such as Adobe Photoshop, one can mold a body into practically anything you want. Hair can be made longer, shorter or a different color. Noses can be made bigger, smaller, wider, darker or lighter. Prefer the model to look insanely thin? Just start pointing and clicking. The same goes for any part of the body. If a photograph does not have the correct lighting for a magazine cover, it can be corrected using software.

Is there anything wrong with this? Yes and no. On one hand, there is not law against touching up photographs to fit a marketing position nor should there be. There is, however, an indirect downside. Many people view these images as a goal for their personal appearance.

When considering plastic surgery, you must be objective about the potential results. It is highly unlikely you are going to look like the model in your favorite image. Heck, the model did not even look like that until undergoing a bit of editing! Plastic surgery has come a long way, but it has its limits.

Plastic surgery is designed to enhance your personal appearance. That being said, it is important that you have reasonable expectations. Forget the images in magazines. Sit down with your plastic surgeon and get an opinion from them regarding what you can expect in regard to results. If those results sound attractive, go ahead. If they don't sound like enough of an improvement, then surgery probably is not a good option.

Michael Jackson: Before The Weirdness And Plastic Surgery

You couldn't help but be captivated by the unbelievably cute
kid with the amazingly controlled falsetto voice and
electric dance moves. He was only 10 years old, when he
exploded onto the music scene, along with his brothers as
the lead singer of the Jackson 5, but he had the stage
presence of a twenty year veteran. Before or since, I
haven't seen a child that talented, that aware, that
dynamic, that charismatic!

I'm talking about Michael Jackson, of course. And if you
didn't have the privilege of seeing him perform as a child--
live or on television, you missed out on the most gifted
child performer in the history of music.

Do yourself a favor and see if you can find a videotape of
some of the Jackson 5's old television appearances, and
you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. They were truly
magical--especially Michael!

The whole world fell in love with the Jackson 5! In the
early seventies, the Jackson 5 were the hottest recording
act on the planet!

They had number one record after number one record, after
number one record. They sold out concerts worldwide. They
were everywhere--television commercials, cereal boxes,
school bookcovers, and on every teeny-bopper magazine. They
even had their very own Saturday morning cartoon! The
Jackson 5 were truly a phenomenom!

The Jackson 5 were all talented in their own right, but it
was little Michael who was the special one--the prodigy--the
genius!

In fact, if Michael hadn't grown up and weirded out on us,
there's little question, he'd be considered the greatest
entertainer of all time. As an adult, he still had the magic
that so captivated us when he was a child.

Actually, despite his current trials and tribulations,
arguably, he's still considered the greatest, if you judge
him strictly on talent and record sales.

Remember, this man holds the Guinness World Record for
having the biggest selling album of all time--"Thriller!" In
addition, in 2000, at the World Music Awards, Jackson was
honored with the Best Selling Male Pop Artist of the
Millennium award. In other words, he was voted the best
selling pop artist of the last thousand years!

Yes, I know he looks like a freak now--or worse, but you
should have seen this kid before the allegations of child
molestations, before the weirdness, before the plastic
surgery. When he was performing on stage, you literally
couldn't take your eyes off of him.

How ironic that is, because now, we can barely stand to look
at him!

Slot Machines Get A Facelift

You may not have thought it but women and slot machines have a lot in common. If you ever go into the middle of the casino, close your eyes and just stand still for a moment you'll know exactly what I am talking about. Next time you visit the casino, just do it and you will remember this comparison and know what you read here is the sound truth.

If you don't visit a casino very often you will notice how the slot machines get a new make-over the next time you set foot in one. The machines come in all denominations and sizes too. For example, the new machine could be loudest one on the casino floor ringing out as though a jackpot has been hit each time the smallest of wins occurs. The manufacturer will find something wrong with the earlier version of a particular machine and low and behold go back to the drawing board for more gaming excitement and a fresh new look. Then, the new and improved version will be louder and brighter, with a lot more appeal than the earlier incarnation.

Like slot machines, some women need more frequent or dramatic make-overs than others. The women you see in casinos are from all walks of life; some come in dripping with expensive diamonds and pearls and head straight to the $100 machine. You also see another "denomination" in T-shirts and jeans, pouring out the last of their child benefit into the nickel machine. The size thing doesn't really need to be addressed, but women are like slot machines, that is a fact.

If you are still standing in the casino with your eyes closed you will hear the slot machines over anything else. However, if you listen really closely, you will hear something like a yelp. It's a woman who's jabbering away, completely oblivious to the comparison that we have made today.

If she wins at the slots, we know exactly what will happen. Everyone in the casino will hear her whiny, screeching voice above the noise of the one-armed bandits and the casino in general.

So the next time the casinos have a new slot version to hit the floor and the lady your with is getting on your nerves with her hand stuck out for "more", think to yourself, what would the casino do?

Isn't it obvious? Go back to the drawing board of course!
