CHANGING LIMITING BELIEFS WITH NLP LIFE COACHING

How to instantly change 'I can't' into 'I can'

I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked for my autograph. Shirley Temple

DO YOU Have a nagging voice in your head that stops you doing what you want? Talk yourself out of getting what you want? Avoid trying new things? Go for the safe option all he time? Feel that you are missing out? Get frustrated at your shyness and lack of confidence? Hold your true self back from being the great person you could be?

WOULD YOU Like to be confident about what you want to do? Like to be fearless and not even think twice about being the real you? Like to banish that voice in your head that says, you can't? Like to stop existing and start living?

Beliefs are the source of energy that either propels you in a direction or holds you back depending on its context. This technique is useful to raise your awareness of your current beliefs and to understand their effect on your current behaviour and choices.

It also helps to identify any beliefs which are outdated and detrimental to your current desires. Completion of this technique will give you the freedom to move on and update your personal beliefs. This will help you to attain your dreams.

Our behaviours are based upon the foundations of our beliefs. If we believe in A then we will behave according to A. If we have a strong belief in B then we act according to B. If we want to change behaviour A and start a new behaviour C then we have to remove belief A and replace it with belief C

EXAMPLE A

BELIEF A BEHAVIOUR A I believe I have no confidence. Therefore I will not participate in anything new outside of my comfort zone.

BELIEF B BEHAVIOUR B I am confident at some things Therefore I will weigh up the but not others. pros and cons of doing something but not others. new and only engage in it if I am forced to.

BELIEF C BEHAVIOUR C I am successful in some Therefore I eagerly try new areas of my life and have no fear things without any fear or stress. Of trying new things with no outdated I enjoy my life and the new beliefs holding me back. opportunities that come my way.

Sometimes although we have a strong desire to change we can be held back by an old belief that we have not updated or taken into consideration. Some beliefs are established at an early age and we fail to address their relevance as we change and develop. Outdated beliefs are often the foundation behind the crippling behaviours that are preceded by that phrase, 'I can't' that crops up and prevents people from attaining your desires.

Here's another example

DESIRED BEHAVIOUR Tom wants to go for promotion and in so doing so attain greater self-esteem, develop his skills, stop being bored, look forward to going to work and receive more praise and greater financial awards.

LIMITING BELIEF However Tom was told at school, 'Don't interrupt the teacher, you'll never be smart enough and only speak when you are spoken to. He has maintained this useless belief at the back of his mind but it is having a detrimental affect on his present life.

Some beliefs we want to keep and some are holding us back. What would happen if you still believed in Father Christmas? How would this belief affect your life? How disappointed you would be if you expected your presents from a mythical person who only exists in the minds of children. As you have changed and developed you have updated this belief accordingly so that you can act accordingly and address the new information.

Some people wish so badly for a dream and never take that step because of a limiting belief. They never take to the world stage and show their talents for fear of what others might think. The greatest opponent you will ever meet is yourself, far more powerful than your greatest foe. Any sportsperson will tell you that the main person you have to beat o succeed is in your own mind. You are the person that is holding you back, stopping you getting promotion, that relationship, living that dream and being yourself.

However everyone has the natural ability to change any limiting beliefs and you will find it easy to upgrade your beliefs. Once you have addressed your limiting beliefs your new beliefs will improve your life in many ways. You will be amazed at the benefits and reduction of stress and pressure.

People who have a strong belief in what they are doing have an inexhaustible energy to attain their dream even against all the odds. They speak from the heart and are not afraid of failure, they learn from their mistakes and get back up and try again and again. They don't spend time pondering on why they can't do something, talking themselves out of doing something different. They don't allow negative talk and fear of what others might think from holding them back. Good examples are Olympic athletes, successful business people, innovators, explorers and entrepreneurs. Here's a new belief for you to adopt, If they can do it then so can you. Confident and successful people are not made from special genes or extraordinary brains. Everyone has the ability to be successful. It is all done to the way that we think and consequently act.

Belief updating is like updating a computer with the latest programmes. Wonderful new programmes that will help it work more efficiently instead of becoming slow and only able to perform outdated tasks. The changing limiting beliefs process creates solid foundations for self-development that make change easier and more fluid. Old limiting beliefs are easily removed and are no longer barriers to change and self-fulfilment.

Some people have all the desire and determination in the world but find themselves unable to more forward. They have a limiting belief, a belief that is stopping them, a belief that is hindering their progress a belief that is not useful or helpful but only serves to make them unhappy. Beliefs are also behind the choices you make.

Despite all good intentions and desires limiting beliefs can have a detrimental affect on progress. They can stop your personal growth and development and restrict your freedom to be who you truly want to be and do what you truly want to do. Positive beliefs are extremely powerful energy sources for achieving desires. They widen your horizons and support personal growth. They stop that nagging inner voice and inner visions of failure and replace them with powerful feelings of inner strength. It creates a positive internal dialogue that supports your path to success.

Having a solid supporting positive belief creates an inexhaustible internal source of energy. This helps to drive a sense of purpose and makes life all the more easier and smoother as well as reducing stress. Imagine what it would be like to always be sure of where you are going, what path to take and secure in your own convictions and choices. The idea behind belief changing is to identify a limiting belief and assess the negative effect on your life, decisions and choices. You don't need to know where it came from or why it's there, just replace it with a more empowering belief.

SPEND 5 MINUTES ON THE FOLLOWING EXERCISE

Now write down a list of limiting beliefs that you think are holding you back.

Now write down the cost to your life. What are you missing out on? How are they holding you back?

What new empowering beliefs would you like to replace them with?

SUMMARY

This process is an excellent method to raise awareness of current beliefs and analyse their positive or negative effects on your life. We behave according to our beliefs. If we believe we can, then we can. If we believe we can't then we can't. Like a clean sweep it updates limiting beliefs for empowering beliefs that promote change, personal development and happiness. If we want to change then we must remove the limiting belief and replace it with an empowering belief. No matter how determined we are our beliefs must reflect and support any change. It provides motivation and energy to achieve your dreams and self fulfilment creating self confidence which moves you towards contentment.

Beliefs are created throughout our lives and although we may wish to maintain some others become obsolete and a hindrance. The most powerful force behind achieving change or remaining static is you. It is you who will stop you getting what you want not anyone else but it is also you who can motivate yourself to attain your greatest desires. Using this technique your energy will be concentrated on success and you will feel free from negativity and unjustified fears. Your new beliefs will be the driving force behind your self-development and self-fulfilment. It won't be long before you have a well established bank of empowering beliefs that will make your life much smoother, easier and less stressful and more enjoyable.

Plastic Surgery - Where's The "Plastic"?

Don't be looking for the Dupont Company sales rep the next time you visit a Plastic Surgeon's office because, despite popular belief, there's no "Plastic" in Plastic Surgery. The name is taken from the Greek word "plastikos" which means to "mold or shape."

Initially plastic surgery procedures were limited to facial and body reconstruction caused by accidents, trauma, illness or birth defects. As people began to see the purely cosmetic possibilities, many surgeons expanded their services to include facelifts, rhinoplasty (nose jobs), breast augmentation and liposuction.

It's important to know the difference between plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery, especially if you're planning on having your insurance company foot the bill for your procedure.

Cosmetic surgery is performed solely to improve a person's outward physical appearance and self-esteem by correcting naturally occuring conditions that the patient is unhappy with. Cosmetic surgery may be performed by either a Plastic Surgeon or a Cosmetic Surgeon. Cosmetic surgery is generally not covered by health insurance.

Reconstructive plastic surgery is performed to correct or reduce the effects of congenital defects, accidental trauma injury, infections, tumors, and other health-related conditions. It's primary purpose is rarely to simply improve appearance except for extreme cases involving major facial or bodily damage resulting from automobile accidents, etc. Plastic Surgery may only be performed by a Plastic Surgeon.

In most cases insurance does pay for plastic surgery although there are some cases where your claim may be reduced or denied completely. That's why it is always important to coordinate the planned procedure with your health insurance provider BEFORE you get the procedure.

Often times the difference between whether or not your insurance company will cover the bill is the REASON for the procedure. If, for example, you are having your nose reshaped because you're unhappy with your profile -- no deal. You're on your own. However, get that same nose job because your doctor has diagnosed a chronic breathing problem that results in the potentially dangerous condition known as "Sleep Apnea" and you could end up with a new nose courtesy of your health insurance provider!

If you are planning to visit a Plastic Surgeon, keep the following items in mind:

Your plastic surgeon should be "Board Certified" by the American Board of Plastic Surgery;

If your doctor will be using anesthesia then make sure that only a licensed Anesthesiologist administers the medicine and make sure that the facility where the procedure is being performed is accredited by at least one of the following organizations:

American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities(AAAASF)

Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)

Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

Although making sure that all of these certifications are present is no guarantee of a trouble-free experience, NOT having these certifications means that both the doctor performing plastic surgery, as well as the people who run the facility, have a serious lack of regard for your health and well being! You should NEVER use an uncertified plastic surgeon or facility. The risk is simply not worth it.

No, it's Not eBay but You Can Bid for Plastic Surgery

Desperate people can do desperate things when consumers become more savvy and sophisticated as they shop around for the very best deals offered on websites promoting surgical procedures.

That's right folks; you can offer a bid for that eye lift or tummy tuck on Bidforsurgery.com, just like you would bid on a piece of jewelry or camera equipment on eBay. If you select to pursue a bid, you are entitled to a free in-person consultation with the physician of your choice. This forum is designed to save the consumer time, money and effort thus saving the doctors administrative and marketing costs.

Insurance companies do not typically reimburse plastic surgery fees leaving the consumer to fend for the best deal with their hard earned cash. Prudent consumers can be thrifty and conservative when spending after tax dollars for a temporary face lift or other risky procedure that will undoubtedly need repeating in a few short years.

Another new wrinkle ? no pun intended ? was developed for the jet setting consumer who believes that they can enjoy a quiet surgical tweak in a foreign clinic where their dollar may go further because of low-cost, high-quality procedures. Sites like MedRetreat.com and PlanetHospital.com will book your appointment with a doctor then take care of the travel requirements such as passport and visas, airline tickets and hotel.

Life altering choices coupled with risk is a high price to pay for beauty especially when unrealistic claims and unqualified practitioners induce patients to make uneducated decisions. Even certain medical professionals are policing themselves and re-thinking their position on cutting into a healthy face for the sake of beauty.

Safety needs to be highly regarded for every surgical procedure and The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons has published a checklist for those considering plastic surgery; it is the acronym entitled 'S.U.R.E.' We have seen similar admonitions from our US health officials and these are reminders of those warnings:

S: Surgeon's credentials and qualifications.
U: Understand fully the procedure, risk, location, downtime and care requirements.
R: Recovery process, how long, implications, after care options
E: Expectations can be over the top so be informed about what actually can be achieved.

All in all, warnings such as these are not needed when you use natural means to correct the cause of aging.

Some aging in the face is from outside influences such as over exposure to the sun and elements, smoking, drinking, poor eating habits, lack of water in the diet, too many adult beverages night after night, and the list can go on and on.

Some aging presents itself like sagging and this is caused because the muscles underneath your skin are elongating due to atrophy/disuse. The facial muscles, although small compared to say muscles in the forearm or leg, can cause noticeable aging when they begin to lose those their shape and tone so by the time you reach 40, apparent aging has begun in your face.

Rather than opt for risky, temporary procedures such as injections and surgical treatments that tax your wallet, why not consider facial exercise to lift your face? You won't have to book an expensive trip or run the risk of contracting Montezuma's revenge or interview countless physicians hoping one of them can work with your budget and health constraints.

Exercises that use resistance and isometrics work for your body and the same principles can be applied to the face. It makes sense. Imagine seeing the face you had years ago returning day by day when you exercise your face.

The key to a younger, healthier looking face is prevention using a natural, safe method such as facial exercise to lift the sagging, droopy muscles without injections, harmful chemicals or cutting. Start now for a better looking face almost instantly!

History of Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery deals with shaping and sculpting of the human body. Appropriately enough, the word "plastic" is derived from the Greek word "plastiko," which means "to mold." The initial reconstructive surgery, which was performed around 500 B.C., has been documented in the Indian Sanskrit texts, and the credit for the same goes to the great Sushruta. Byzantine physician Oribasius has also contributed in the evolution of plastic surgery through his work in the Synagogue Medicae, a medical encyclopedia.

Plastic surgery was then revived in the 14th century and again later in the 18th century. During this time, anesthesia was introduced to the procedure, making it more common and less risky. John Roe, in 1891, was the first American to introduce the aesthetic approach to plastic surgery. However, it was only during and after World War I that the surgeries were further fine-tuned and became more mainstream because of necessity. During the war there were many soldiers who experienced severe head injuries.

The credit of founding the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is bestowed upon Jacques Maliniac and Gustave Aufricht, who were European surgeons. Plastic surgery grew more advanced during the World War II. The procedure became speedier and more precise during this time. Since then, it has evolved to help millions of people across the globe.

At the end of the twentieth century, modern aesthetic surgery celebrated its 100th birthday. Most of the modern practices used in aesthetic surgery still date back to the early 1880s and 1890s.

There has been a surge in the number of aesthetic surgery patients and procedures over the years. The past two decades have shown a drastic growth in the people opting for such surgery.

It is very interesting to note that with the evolution of aesthetic surgery, the entire appearance of a person can be altered, making people more acceptable to both themselves and to the world at large.

Plastic Surgery

Ideally, plastic surgery is intended for those people who have had severe burn injuries and need tissue replacement, or for those who have had an accident and scarred their faces. Plastic surgery helps in restoring and, at times, restructuring facial bones and skin, bringing mental peace to the patient.

History has many instances of reconstructive, or cosmetic, surgery. The Romans could repair ears. The great Indian surgeon Susrutha utilized skin grafting methods in 800 B.C. for nose reconstruction. The mid-15th century saw Heinrich von Pfolspeundt perform a nose job. The first cleft palate operation was preformed by Dr. John Peter Mettauer with instruments of his own design.

Procedures like flap surgery and microsurgical transfer of tissue improved rapidly after the World War I. Reconnecting blood vessels with transferred tissue has been around for many decades now. Breast reconstruction, sex reassignment surgery, foreskin restoration and mucosa defects are some examples of reconstructive surgery.

Before going in for plastic surgery, one needs to find out all the details about the doctor in question. He should be a certified doctor with the requisite qualifications for carrying out the surgery. He must have hospital privileges, as post-operative care is very important. All details of cost and related expenses should be made clear upfront. Ensure that the doctor has successfully performed this procedure before. Get feedback, if possible, from other patients.

Get the doctor to explain the technique and procedure to be used. Determine whether anesthesia will be administered locally or generally. Talk to the anesthetist if it is to be general anesthesia. Ensure that where the operation will be performed is affiliated with a hospital licensed by the state or, at the very least, accredited.

Then find out what will be the procedure if something goes wrong and if there could be irreversible damage. Determine what medication will be used and for how long. How soon will you be able to get back to normal living? Only after you have satisfied yourself with all the answers and are sure that this is what you have to do, should you then undergo surgery.

Plastic Surgery Financing

It is important to plan the plastic surgery procedure with a health insurance firm much in advance. This is important, as plastic surgery for just aesthetic appeal is typically not covered by most insurance firms. However, if the procedure involves a medical necessity, it is definitely met by the firm. Hence, the reason for this procedure is of utmost importance.

It is, however, possible to get private financing for the cosmetic surgery required by an individual. There are several financial institutions that provide plastic surgery loans. It is advisable to study the various institutions in the fray and select the institution that best suits the individual?s requirements and lifestyle. It is recommended to ask about down payments as well as the terms and conditions governing the loan. With loans of these types available, it is not necessary for the individuals to shell out their entire stock of savings.

It is possible for a person to take advantage of the various resources that are available and effectively lower the cost of such a procedure. It is also possible to seek the services of a credit counseling service that is locally available.

It is also possible to look for plastic surgery loan calculators online that will help provide the outline of the loan programs, considering the payback that can be afforded by the individual. They can also calculate the approximate time period that would be required in paying off the loan.

It is also advisable to take the doctor into confidence about the loan that is being proposed, as many times the loan providers try and negotiate with the medical practitioners to lower the cost of the surgery. The concerned doctors might not take to this kindly. Certain online collaborations work in partnership with some surgeons. This way both the parties are profited since the online companies lure patients for the surgeons, and, in turn, the surgeons provide their services at low rates.

By acquiring a loan for the much-desired cosmetic surgery, individuals are making an investment in themselves.

Benefits of Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery

If you need to make a change to improve your personality, look and your confidence, there is an answer: Cosmetic plastic surgery.

But you find yourself wondering, "What is plastic surgery?" By definition plastic surgery is any surgical procedure that deals with the reconstruction or improvement of a body part to enhance the shape and appearance of that part of the body.

Whether you are considering facial plastic surgery, breast augmentation, breast reduction or rhinoplasty it is important to make sure that you completely understand the intricacies of the procedure you are interested in before you make your decision. It is important to remember that although plastic surgery usually has more to do with your appearance than function of your body, it is still major surgery and shouldn't be taken lightly.

The great thing about plastic surgery is that benefits can be both physical and emotional, both external and internal.

The effect of plastic surgery depends on the person and the procedure. Most plastic surgery requires that the patient be given general anesthetic so most people wake up after surgery feeling groggy and or nauseous. Some people wake up in pain and others have sore throats and are extremely thirsty, it varies. Usually it takes two or three hours to recover from the effects of anesthetic.

The risks of plastic surgery will differ depending on the individual and the procedure they opt for.

Scarring is one of the most common risks that people considering plastic surgery should be aware of. Most surgeons will try to hide incision lines in places where they aren't noticeable, like under the crease of the breast in breast augmentation plastic surgery and in the hairline in facial plastic surgery, but most surgeries will still result in permanent scarring.

Bleeding, infection and hematomas are possible after surgery, but if these complications are caught early on they can usually be treated.

Before you undergo plastic surgery it is important to have blood tests and a physical done to ensure that you are a good candidate for surgery. In addition you should make sure to look into the procedure you are considering and learn about the risks involved so that you can be as prepared inside and out for your transformation.

What You Should Look For In A Plastic Surgeon Before Going For A Surgery

The decision to have plastic surgery is certainly not one to be taken lightly. The changes you choose to make to your appearance will be with you for the rest of your life, so you want to be sure you are happy with the results. These are some points you may wish to take into account when deciding who will be your plastic surgeon.

Don't go with the first one you see

Have a list of questions ready to ask several different plastic surgeons. Don't just go with the first one you see or the cheapest. You want to know how experienced they are and see some photographs of their work. The best way to be lead to the right plastic surgeon for you would have to be via recommendations from people you trust.

You may want to go the extra mile with your research into the surgeons that make it onto your short list. Look into whether or not there have been any complaints against them, and do they have full authority for their position in the hospital where they attend surgery. You should feel free to discuss any concerns with the surgeon, and if not then they are not the doctor for you.

Meet former patients in person

You will always see before and after photos at the plastic surgeons office, but ask if you can speak to some former patients in person. That way you can ask them directly about how happy they were with the doctor's creation of their vision. Talk to them about how satisfied they were with the hospital in general. If you feel like the plastic surgeon doesn't have time for you to interview them, then cross them off your list straight away - you are making a life long decision and if they can't empathize with your need to pick the right person then they aren't the one.

Always discuss the details of what your payment covers precisely, so you understand the complete costs including your room, surgery, medications and any care for after the operation. You do not want to think you have paid for everything only to receive a big bill during your recovery.

Entertain all your options

Have a list of questions ready to ask several different plastic surgeons. Don't just go with the first one you see or the cheapest. You want to know how experienced they are and see some photographs of their work. The best way to be lead to the right plastic surgeon for you would have to be via recommendations from people you trust.

Summary:

Do some research on a handful of plastic surgeons before you decide who will operate on you. If you can, get a list together of surgeons people you know can recommend to you. Instead of just looking at photos ask to meet former patients face to face. Don't be pushed into any one surgeon, and make the choice that seems right for you.

Celebrities and Plastic Surgery

A lot of people are tempted to undergo plastic surgery but are afraid of what it could do to them if things go wrong. Perhaps taking a good look at the celebrities who have failed at their attempts at plastic surgery can show these people that they should be very afraid indeed. Here's a short list of celebrities who have undergone horrible plastic suregry, based on various published reports in publications and on the internet.

1. Michael Jackson Yes, he tops the list of worst plastic surgery cases. Following a series of surgical procedures, Jackson probably now ranks as one of the scariest celebrities on the planet. He used to be a cute black child but now he resembles a pale ghost. You don't have to say a lot about Jackson and this topic because practically everyone has seen the dire results.

2. Melanie Griffith She was once a stunning and fresh-faced beauty, particularly during the eighties, but now that she has put too much collagen on her face, her skins looks much too tight as if she's always tense. Why, some people say she can't even smile anymore. The best she can do is grimace. Of course, there are whispers that drugs have something to do with it as well.

3. Farrah Fawcett Another former knockout whose looks have taken a turn for the worse after plastic surgery is Farrah Fawcett. She was once the queen of the hit series Charlie's Angels and one of the most popular poster girls in the world. Today, after a series of nips and tucks and many more, her face looks deformed, with a nose that is lopsided and eyes that are way too tilted at the ends.

4. Lil Kim Black musician Lil Kim seems to be following the footsteps of Michael Jackson. She's tried to be a little whiter and she's altered her eyes, nose and lips. She once looked soulful and sultry. Now she looks like a gremlin.

5. Kylie Minogue Kylie used to ooze sex appeal. Now, after too many botox treatments, her face looks as tight as a drum. Sure, you don't see any wrinkles on her forehead at all, but her face looks too stiff and unnatural.

A Brief History of Plastic Surgery

The word "plastic" has come to mean "artificial" to people in our society today, but that's not where plastic surgery gets its name. The "plastic" in plastic surgery derives from "plastikos," a Greek word that means "to mold or shape."

Although we tend to think of cosmetic surgery when someone mentions plastic surgery, plastic surgeons have a long history of performing physical reconstruction. Skin grafts, which are a form of plastic surgery, were performed in India as long ago as 800 B.C. By the fourth century A.D., surgeons in Byzantium had developed fairly sophisticated methods of fine suturing to prevent scarring.

More significant reconstruction became part of the plastic surgery universe in the 18th century, when an American surgeon repaired a cleft palate, and in the 19th century the development of general anesthesia for surgery helped make plastic surgery more widely acceptable once people realized they no longer had to be wide awake to experience pain. Surgery in general became more commonplace as antibiotics and an understanding of the importance of modern sanitary measures made all forms of surgery less dangerous.

World War I, which maimed thousands of soldiers, was the crucible in which many plastic surgery specialists were formed. Doctors developed methods for reconstructing ears, noses, jaws and eyes, and compared notes across national boundaries after the war.

New techniques and materials are continually being developed in plastic surgery that can repair an ever-wider range of physical deformities, and many that make cosmetic surgery procedures easier, more comfortable, and more affordable than ever before.

Plastic Surgery and Your Breasts

Plastic surgery for the female breast is, along with facelifts, probably the highest-profile type of plastic surgery. It is performed not only for aesthetic reasons, but for health reasons as well.

One category of plastic surgery for the breast is mammoplasty (breast augmentation), which usually involves the insertion of saline-filled implants. Mastopexy (breast lift) lifts and reshapes sagging breasts and repositions the nipples to restore symmetry. "Breast revision" is the umbrella name for the various kinds of plastic surgery for the breast.

Mammoplasty is also performed in breast reconstruction, where the plastic surgery can help approximate the appearance of a breast that has been removed during cancer treatment.

Breast reduction is another area of plastic surgery that is not specifically cosmetic. Large breasts can cause back, neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches, breast pain, poor posture, and other health issues that plastic surgery can help to resolve.

The aesthetic results of various forms of breast revision are generally good. Specific side effects, in addition to the general risks posed by surgery and anesthetic, can include loss of sensation and of the ability to nurse a baby.

For many women, breast size is an issue that affects their self-esteem. But even when size isn't your issue, many women lose tone and symmetry after pregnancy and nursing that plastic surgery can restore. Self-consciousness about one's breasts can also have a negative impact on a woman's sexuality. While in some cases of low self-esteem psychotherapy may be necessary, breast revision surgery has a significant positive impact for many women.

Plastic Surgery for a Flatter Tummy

Abdominoplasty is the type of plastic surgery known as the "tummy tuck." It is a major surgical procedure, with often dramatic results.

A tummy tuck flattens the abdomen by not only removing excess fat and skin, but by tightening the muscles that form the abdominal wall. Plastic surgery of this type is particularly useful for women who, after having had several children, have stretched-out abdominal muscles that no longer "bounce back." Patients who have lost a great deal of weight and lost their skin elasticity also benefit. This type of plastic surgery is not recommended for women who intend to have more children, since the muscles that are surgically tightened can once again separate as the child and tummy grow.

Plastic surgery like this isn't an alternative to weight loss. If you intend to lose a great deal of weight, you should wait to consider plastic surgery until you see how much (or little) your abdomen rebounds on its own.

Many of the people who feel they most need a tummy tuck are, unfortunately, not going to get the results they desire from plastic surgery. People who carry most of their weight in their tummies usually have what is called visceral fat. Superficial or "white" fat can be removed by liposuction and during a tummy tuck, but the deepest layer of fat is called the visceral layer, or omentum; it surrounds the organs and its removal comprises serious surgery that is only considered for critical health reasons, not for cosmetic purposes.

Unfortunately, the only way to remove visceral fat is through diet and exercise.

Plastic Surgery and Its Sociological Effects

Plastic surgery is also often called cosmetic surgery and has become a widespread method to reshape the body and to help to improve the appearance, it includes absolutely different operations starting with abdominoplasty and ending with eyes surgery and face lifting. Besides plastic surgery deals even more vitally important spheres, like for example repair damages caused by some accidents or injuries. It is well promoted and rather expensive but still carriers certain risks, like any other type of operation. For example, patients, who decide to make some dental operations, are put at great risks. People who go through a number of plastic operations are often still not satisfied with the result and start doing other procedures, which is of course not the best way to influence the state of the body: many people, who are overweight turn to special operations, but after the fat is gone they face the problem of lots of hanging skin.

Besides most people who have done it once, will return to these operations again and again, even with the same problem, as they feel constantly not satisfied with the result and are ready to give huge sums of money, which they by the way could have used for some better needs, like really supporting their health. ?Plastic surgery junkies need to think about why they keep wanting more work done. Obviously it?s much easier to change your outlook on life than it is to change your external look?? (Rosen Christine, The Democratization of Beauty, 2004, p.2). So this constant seeking for perfection can be considered more of a psychological problem than real problems with appearance. To avoid such result of plastic operations, the doctors are to provide sufficient amount of explanation for the potential patient concerning the results and reasons of this operation. Some may need just a psychological help instead of this operation. And this is of course a task of the society to work out the ?rules? for dealing the people, who want to make plastic surgery and do the best to defend the clients of the plastic surgery clinics.

All these is a good basis for the surgeons to build their businesses upon, they can use the week sides of a person , as almost every person feels not absolutely sure about his/her appearance and would love to look better, and earn good money. People are surrounded by advertisements of ?absolutely safe? and prestigious methods of changing the appearance. As any other branch of medicine, plastic surgery can have its field for development and application, but there are still certain rules or restrictions to be made about it. From the very beginning there should be a strict division between cases of application of plastic surgery, a person who was burnt or injured as a result of some accident or war or any other conflict has to make such kind of operation under the circumstances, even he doesn?t want to, and a person, who watches too much television and wants to get the same face Britney Spears or Tom Cruise have, chooses to make this operation on his own free will. It is absolutely not right to make these two people pay the same price for the plastic operation.

It was always believed that to live happily a man should be in a harmony with both physical and moral self, and in harmony with the surrounding world, social environment and conditions play great role for achieving this harmony. No wonder that all people struggle for meeting the accepted standards of beauty. Plastic surgery is thought to be a way to these standards, as this puts together both medical and aesthetical aspects, psychological balance and social well-being are thought to stand in close relation with beautiful appearance. Everybody would love to achieve social weight and meet the best standards of beauty. Age is not allowed to be an obstacle for ?being in a good form?, though nobody is getting younger as the time passes. This short phrase ?feel well? includes in reality the cooperation of biochemistry, psychology, medicine, endocrinology, dietology, dermatology and so on. No wonder that the fastest results, which are promised by plastic surgeons, are so temptating for people. There are many reasons that explain this obsessive preoccupation with beauty in modern world. Most of them appeal to such social factors like male domination over women or competition between women. Some psychoanalysts are even aware of cases when a small girl is envious about her mother?s nice appearance.

It is estimated that around 65 000 to 75 000 surgery operations are made each year only in the UK. Certainly women are constant customers at beauty shops and plastic surgeons. A man looking through a magazine with top models and beautiful women is getting pleasure, while a woman is feeling the more depressed the less she looks like those models. ?It is natural for a woman to participate in the act of comparison, even to the point of obsession. To be female is to be presented with an ideal and to measure your self and self-worth against it? (Society, Self ? Esteem, and Women, Ellie Cashman, p. 12). She is thinking of having longer legs, bigger breasts, blonde hair and even different color of skin as a way to deserve love and happiness, but ironically this ideal can never be fulfilled in reality. This beauty myth leads sometimes even to the situation, when a woman is ready to struggle for loosing some extra weight instead of struggling for some other life goal. Today they are doing their best to build their bodies by lifting weights and wrapping with seaweed, attending diet centers and doing other types of body exercises. But if a body can be turned for a better, the face, hair and the age results are the field for plastic clinics. Plastic surgery, for example gives empowering life experience for those women, who choose it, while hairstyling has become a way to claim to professional and social class identities.

There is one more tendency, which can not be considered acceptable, everybody is nowadays aware of so called Racial Beauty Battle, an example for it can be a story about plastic surgery boom in Asia, where people were trying to remake themselves to look more Caucasian. Some would of course deny this fact, but nobody can deny that the aesthetic ideal of Asia has changed greatly under the influence of Hollywood television. Asians ask the doctors to make their eyes wider, their noses longer and their breasts fuller, of course all these features are absolutely not typical for their race. Such kind of operations demand unique techniques and procedures, innovative operations, which are both a great deal of risk and should be considered ?steps against nature?, people were from the very beginning created different, everybody is individually different from others, all look differently, even twins are not absolute copies of each other as they have different characters, might happen that they have different tastes in clothes and absolutely different behavior. The same can be said about different nations, all differ from each other, all nations do not lack beautiful people, but it is never the reason for changing you appearance to look like somebody?s standard of beauty.

Overall, the development and researches of the plastic surgery are not to be stopped or hidden, unfortunately accidents happen to people all the time and they do and will need help from plastic surgeons, but this field of medicine should not and can not be ignored by society and some social laws and stable rules are to be worked out, as plastic surgery does influence the relations between people, the separate individuals and thus the society as a whole.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PLASTIC SURGERY - Look Perfect for Your Special Day!

Southern California Plastic Surgery Group, located on North Bedford Drive, Beverly Hills, specializes in rhinoplasty, eye surgery, facelifts and breast reconstruction as well as eyelid surgery, body contouring, and liposuction. Their plastic surgeons also do hand surgery including repairing of the tendons, nerves, blood vessels, and bones of the hand and wrist.

The Plastic Surgery Centers of Beverly Hills and Agoura Hills specialize in cosmetic and reconstruction surgery for both men and women. The centers were founded by Dr. Robert Gutstein, a board certified surgeon with years of experience in all types of plastic surgery. Their goal is to produce the best result while taking the easiest course they possibly can.

The largest plastic surgery group in the country is the Beverly Hills Surgical Institute, consisting of 14 of the nation's leading plastic surgeons at their 11 facilities throughout Southern California. "At BHSI, we are committed to excellence in patient satisfaction," says Lee Mercer, Chief Operating Officer.

"My mission is to help you look and feel healthy, happy and youthful," says Sean Younai, M.D. Dr. Younai and his staff offer patients a safe, comfortable and positive plastic surgery experience. You will also find skin care and laser spa services, offering non-surgical means of skin rejuvenation and re-establishing your youthful appearance.

Elective surgery, particularly the more invasive procedures, isn't just a physical surgery - it is also a very emotional experience, which can cause a great impact on your mind, both positively and negatively. Preparation is a vital step since you can set yourself up for depression and shock if you're not completely ready.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, it is critical that you ask questions, including:

-- Is the doctor certified to perform the procedure you're considering? -- Does the doctor have hospital privileges? -- Is the facility accredited? -- How are complications handled?

The best thing to do before deciding on any procedure is research and discussion. Carefully research your procedure and your physician. Look for the best doctor, not the most economical. You may want to talk to a counselor about your thoughts on plastic surgery if you aren't sure you're making the right decision for you.

Plastic surgery & NLP life coaching

CHANGING LIMITING BELIEFS WITH NLP LIFE COACHING

www.renaissanceretreat.com

Your plastic surgeon should be "Board Certified" by the American Board of Plastic Surgery;

LOOK PERFECT FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY - PLASTIC SURGERY OPTIONS IN NEWPORT BEACH

P. James Voloshin, M.D., and his team at Newport Surgery Institute in Orange County are dedicated to the needs of their patients. Your experience will be satisfying at the Institute, which boasts a staff directed by excellence, trust and skill. The Institute does all the top surgical procedures such as liposuction, breast augmentation and rhinoplasty.

The term "plastic surgery" is derived from the Greek word, plastikos, which means to form or mold. Cosmetic surgery is done to redesign normal structures on the body in order to improve the patient's looks and self-confidence. Reconstructive surgery is done on atypical structures of the body caused by obesity, congenital imperfections, developmental defects, trauma, disease, or growths.

Why do people submit themselves to cosmetic plastic surgery? That depends. It may be that you have a once in a lifetime event coming up (such as your wedding day) and you want to look perfect. It may also depend on your gender. Fifty-seven percent of women tell their plastic surgeons they just want to look younger. Only 45% of men make the same assertion. One in four men - but only one in ten women - see plastic surgeons for what they call work-related reasons.

Making the decision to get cosmetic surgery can be a colossal, life-changing choice. Check your plastic surgeon out: does the American Board of Plastic Surgery certify him/her? What school/s did he/she attend? Where did he/she do residency training? After narrowing your list to board-certified and well-trained surgeons, visit their websites to get a general feel of their practice, and to see before and after pictures if available.

To aid recovery after your procedure:

-- Apply ice packs or compresses to minimize swelling -- Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications -- Do not smoke or be exposed to secondary smoke during recovery -- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight -- Use sun block to protect your skin -- Go to follow-up appointments to reduce complications

Americans watch shows such as "Extreme Makeover" and "Dr. 90210" to gape at plastic surgery done from head to toe. The pop culture exposure has brought more acceptance of cosmetic surgery, but also created fear of drastic results. With this in mind, Newport Beach marketing firm "The Professional Image," recently sponsored a media briefing where a group of prominent plastic surgeons gathered to discuss the latest trends in cosmetic surgery and anti-aging.

Surgeries - Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery

Now days everyone likes to seem beautiful. Looking healthy young and beautiful is the most important thing in day to day life. You may be upset that you are having some problems in your physical structure or you are fat or your nose shape is not too good. For that purpose cosmetic and plastic surgery is now available which helps us to remove any physical disorders. Cosmetic and plastic surgery really help you to improve your lifestyle.

Cosmetic surgery is used to redefine your looks. If you do not like a facial or body feature that you have, you may use cosmetic surgery to change that specific area. It is also useful in reducing lines or wrinkles on your face.

Plastic Surgery mainly focuses on reconstruction. If you have a birth defect, injury, disease that has caused a change in your features, plastic surgery is a very useful treatment on these problems.

Cosmetic or plastic surgery is performed by a doctor who has undergone specialized training in either plastic or cosmetic surgery. While choosing a doctor always makes sure that they have been certified by either the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) or the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS).

Cosmetic surgery is categorized into two types - one that add something to the body and another that take something away. Many people are unhappy with their body size and shape of parts of their bodies, so they would like to either reduce or increase the size of body.

Some of the most popular types of cosmetic surgery, however, involve adding volume to areas of the body. One of these is seen in collagen injections, which plump up the lips. But, the biggest of the addition surgeries is breast augmentation. With this surgery, implants (usually made of saline) are inserted into a woman's breasts in order to enlarge her cup size.

Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures are as follows Rhinoplasty:-The medical term given to plastic surgery to redesign your nose. Breast Augmentation:-A surgical technique to increase the size and shape of a woman's breast. Liposuction:-An efficient technique of changing the body's shape and size. Facelift:-Takes care of these problems by tightening and firming the facial skin as well as the neck muscles in one step. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty):- It's a surgical technique where the surgeon sheds out the extra fat, muscle, skin from either or both the upper and the lower eye lid to redesign the shape the eye.
